General
Is PDFacile really free?
Yes. All tools are free to use, with no sign-up and no watermarks added to your files. Rate limits apply to keep the service fair for everyone.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There are no accounts at all. Open a tool, add your files and download the result.
Do I need to install anything?
No. PDFacile works in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone.
What can I do with PDFacile?
You can merge, split, compress and rotate PDFs, convert to and from Word, JPG and PNG, add watermarks, protect or unlock files, and extract, delete or reorder pages. See the tools page for the full list.
Privacy & security
What happens to my files after I upload them?
Your files are processed on our servers over HTTPS. Uploaded files are deleted as soon as processing finishes. The result is kept only so you can download it, then deleted automatically after 30 minutes.
Can I delete my file sooner?
Yes. Click "Delete now" on the result screen and the file is removed from our servers immediately.
Does anyone look at my documents?
No. We never look at, sell, share or index your documents, and we never use them to train anything. Our logs don't include file contents or file names.
Are my passwords stored?
No. Passwords you enter in the Protect or Unlock tools are used only for that operation. They are never stored and never logged.
Do you use cookies or tracking?
No cookies are set by default, and there are no analytics or ads. Your theme choice is saved in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.
Files & limits
What is the maximum file size?
Each file can be up to 100 MB. For larger documents, try splitting or compressing them first.
How long is my download link valid?
Download links expire after 30 minutes. After that, the file is deleted and you will need to run the tool again.
Is there a limit on how often I can use the tools?
Rate limits protect the service from abuse. Normal use won't hit them, but if you do, wait a few minutes and try again.
Can PDFacile read text in scanned PDFs?
Not yet. Scanned PDFs are processed as images, without text recognition (OCR). OCR is on our list of planned features.
Troubleshooting
My converted Word file doesn't look like the original PDF. Why?
PDF and Word store layouts very differently. Simple documents usually convert well, but complex layouts with columns, tables or unusual fonts may not be reproduced perfectly.
I forgot the password to my PDF. Can you remove it?
No. We can't recover forgotten passwords or remove an unknown password needed to open a file. The Unlock tool only works when you know the password.
My upload or processing failed. What should I do?
Check that the file is a valid, undamaged file under 100 MB, then try again. If it keeps failing, contact us with the tool you used and the error you saw.
My download link says it has expired.
Links expire after 30 minutes and the file is then deleted for your privacy. Simply run the tool again to get a new result.
