Edit text without retyping it

PDFs are great for sharing but awkward to edit. Converting to Word gives you back text you can correct, reuse or update, saving you from copying it out by hand.

The result is a standard .docx file that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and most other editors.

How does PDF to Word conversion work?

We rebuild your document instead of copying lines: paragraphs, headings, lists, columns in reading order, tables with merged cells, images, links, fonts, bold, italics and colours, headers, footers and page breaks become real Word elements you can edit.

Scanned pages are images. When text recognition (OCR) is available on our server, they are recognised automatically in the language of this page; otherwise run them through OCR PDF first. Very designed layouts may need a few touch-ups.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a scanned PDF?

Yes, when text recognition (OCR) is available on our server: scanned pages are recognised automatically in the language of this page. If no text is found, run the file through OCR PDF first and choose the right language.

Will the layout look exactly the same?

Text, tables, images and columns are kept, and the result stays easy to edit. Fonts that aren’t on your computer are replaced, so line breaks can move a little. Complex designs may need small adjustments.

My PDF is password-protected. What can I do?

Unlock it first with our Unlock PDF tool, using the password you have, then convert the unlocked copy.

Is my document kept after conversion?

No. The PDF is removed as soon as the conversion is done, and the Word file is deleted when its download link expires after 30 minutes.
