Tips for a smooth application upload
A résumé exported from Word or Google Docs is usually small, but a profile photo, a designer template or scanned diplomas can push it to several megabytes. Compression mainly reduces those images, so your text stays crisp for the recruiter and readable by the portal's software.
Keep your CV as an exported file rather than printing and scanning it: a scanned résumé is just an image, and applicant tracking systems may not be able to read its content. If a portal accepts only one file, merge your CV and cover letter first, then compress the combined PDF.
If the limit is very strict, use the Extreme level for scanned certificates, where image sharpness matters less than on your résumé. Always open the compressed file before you submit it to check that everything is legible.

What file size do job portals usually accept?
It varies: 2 MB and 5 MB are common, and some forms stop at 1 MB or less. The limit is usually written next to the upload button.
Will compression stop applicant tracking systems from reading my CV?
No. Compression works on images and file structure; the text of a PDF exported from a word processor stays selectable and searchable.
Can I compress my diplomas and certificates too?
Yes. Scanned diplomas are often the heaviest files in an application. Compress them one by one, or select up to 10 PDFs at once and download them in a ZIP.
Is my CV kept on your servers?
No. The upload is deleted after processing and the compressed file is removed automatically after 30 minutes. We never read or share your documents.
